One of the most pressing questions whether you're new to social media or a social media maven is: What's the best way to post information or share content to optimize your reach


Compendium, a content marketing firm conducted a study of more than 200 companies to determine how social media professionals may optimize their engagement with both business-to-business-to-consumer conversations.


What they found is consistent with what Ted Nguyen has experienced and he has demonstrated that he clearly knows what he's doing

Here are some highlights:


"My experience in sharing more than 21,000 tweets and Facebook posts to my more than 82,000 Twitter followers and Facebook friends is consistent with the study’s findings"

.

**I recommend the hours between 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Pacific Time) or 1 to 4 p.m. (Eastern Time) are the best times for Twitter and Facebook to optimize social engagement engagement.


**I find that tweets shared earlier in the week do better than those sent later in the week. I also have discovered that Facebook posts do best Wednesday early afternoon.


**if you look at Ted's social shares, they run around the clock. he tries his best to engage with people in real time or near real time.

In case you missed this article, I'm reposting it today because it's definitely worth your while if you're using content to build your business. Conversationagent not only gives you some great tips for creating compelling content but also shares examples of people who are doing a good job with each suggestion.


These ideas can be used for content curators as well - to create buzz and build an audience, providing "context" is what sets you apart from others - these tips are ways to accomplish that.


"Connecting ideas and people -- how talk can change our lives".


Here are a few things that caught my attention:


**. Make digestible bits of advice in micro-interactions gain big impact. Kellye Crane built a community for #soloPR practitioners off a Twitter chat filled with useful advice.


** Create a new list. People like to see where things stack against each other. By far, the most popular list is still the one Todd And created and AdAge took over.


** Give away secrets and tips to help others become more effective. Adam Singer is very generous in that regard.


** Teach something new or from a new perspective. Kathy Sierra has been able to do that on a topic that for many was considered not quite appealing

.

** Inspire people to take action and change the world. Entrepreneur Chris Guilleabeau is a good example of that.


** Be opinionated about future trends. That's a trait that is best exemplified by Robert Scoble.


** Track and review future trends from behind the scenes. A good guide is Louis Gray.


**Create a conversation around a social object. That's what Hugh MacLeod does.


** Become the expert hub on a subject matter. The consistent "go to" person for branding is the team at Branding Strategy Insider.

This a great blog post from Rian van der Merwe , describing the noise you can find on the web now, and especially content just created for SEO purposes or advertisers. As many, Rian is tired of it.


Rian speaks for many of us who are overwhelmed, overloaded with content that gives us no value at all. This is the problem


Of course, we’re never going to agree on what “quality content” means. It’s one of those “you know it when you see it” things, and everyone’s definition will be different. Still, my personal view is that quality content presents two or more of the following components: (1) new information, (2) interpretation of information, and/or (3) a well considered personal opinion about what the information means. ↩Wait, who am I to decide what people should and shouldn’t read? You’re absolutely right, I can’t do that so I should get off my high horse and let people read whatever they want to read. This is an opinion piece. ↩

There have been so many articles written about this subject, I think we're all on overload and maybe just brush off yet another piece.


I'm going to add one of my own that I think is where you need to start so that you're clear on your business goals.


Storytelling - Brand Narrative - It all starts here


****What is your brand story? The people you want to reach have to locate and identify themselves in the story you tell - does it address the needs of the audience you're trying to reach? Does it have many points of entry for them to relate to it?


Does it clearly tell them who you are, what you stand for and how you can help them? Does it show why you're different than others in your field?


In my opinion, once you have a strong story then it is easy to the tips suggested in this piece.


Here are a few things that caught my attention:


****Be goal-oriented: You need to create a business-aligned communications strategy where everything links back to company goals.


Without such a strategy, you're shooting blanks.


****Let your strategy dictate your communications instead of knee-jerk reaction to events or "we need a blog post immediately because something truly inconsequential just happened."


****Make it evergreen: Most of your content should be perpetually relevant… I recommend a 70/30 split (70 percent evergreen, the rest relevant for at least the time being).


****Evergreen content stands the test of time, reinforcing your business-related goals.


****Analyze performance indicators: Analyze and adjust your approach to content marketing based on key performance indicators, including views, shares, response to calls-to-action, others' curation of your content and so forth


****Creating content is job one; analyzing and adjusting as you go are part of job one!

**Stop multi-tasking

Womack says that our days are actually made up of about 100 15-minute intervals. In fact 15 minutes is just about the right "chunk" of time for us to be able to stay focused, minimize interruptions and work effectively


**Know when you're not focused and implement ways to refocus

When you're working with your timer, write down eah instance when you lose focus-even if it's just to look at a clock to see what time it is.


**Carry a camera with you

Carrying a camera with you is actually a great way to become more in tune with your environment.


**I do this one and it really helps bring me into the present moment


**Listen more

There are three different learning styles: visual, auditory and kinesthetic. Everyone in your network falls into one of these categories.
