Defining clear objectives makes this exercise have the most value


*Solve a problem   Make a pain point go away as seamlessy conveying the current status of orders in any desirec channel


*Make life simpler   Remove the time, effort and/or friction the customer has in engaging with you.


*Engage the customer - It has been a problem for companies to engage through social media as an example. To be able to respond an participate in conversations immediately is one of the hardest things to do.

 Solution:  supply tools an proactive organizational policies to   orchestrate advocates (employee, partner and customer) to do the work whenever possible

Scoop.it, the startup that approaches Web content curation by letting you create a topic-specific blog-style feed that others can follow (see our initial coverage here, and more here), has launched an iPhone app that allows you to manage your topics on the go.


While many mobile apps for curation services are simply designed to view content, Scoop.it is designed for sourcing and sharing too.


For each of the topics you manage, Scoop.it will suggest recent articles from around the Web which you may wish to share. Each suggestion can be shared to your page or removed with a couple of taps.


If you want to share something manually, meanwhile, you have two options; you can either enter the URL, title, and a note to go with it, or there’s a bookmarklet you can install to share easily from the iPhone’s own browser. Unfortunately, as with other iPhone bookmarklets, it’s a little fiddly to set up.

On the heels of a recent study that Webtrends undertook with Forrester comes another riveting piece of research from eMarketer that focuses on the current fracturing of the Internet and the explosion that is taking place in social and mobile.


Here's what caught my attention:


****The fact that 82% of all the CMOs polled for the study revealed that they are increasing the use of social media should cast aside any illusions that this emerging new medium is a passing fad or merely a tactic to reach the highly prized 18-24 demographic. 


****68% said they were unprepared for the explosion of Social Media


****Analytics fared almost as well, with 81% saying they would increase their spend.  The same amount as will devote more funds to Customer Relationship Management!


****80% identified mobile apps and 72% stated that tablet apps are priorities going forward


****71% of these same marketers revealed that it is the data explosion that these new mediums are generating that keeps them awake at night while 72% will increase their spend on Content Management.



There are also categories for Marketing Priorities and Priorities for Managing the shift towards Digital Technologies.

I selected this piece from social media today because as an active member on social media platforms, I have seen the power of selfies and when used appropriately how they can immediately get your audience involved with your brand.


Here are a few tips that caught my attention:


You need to know your audience and what they’ll respond best to, rather than simply tagging onto the latest trend.


Selfies have the power to encourage self acceptance and boost people’s confidence. In order to use them best, in a marketing sense, these are the elements you should keep in mind.


Helping people feel good about themselves is a great way to enhance your brand community, and used intelligently, selfies can play a significant part in spreading a positive brand message.

Reading is changing, even more than e-readers, tablets, or “readers’ tablets,” smartphones are changing it.

Here's what caught my attention: I'm looking at this from a content curator's point of view:


**The flurry of activity around personalized news for smartphones shows that as popular as the iPad has been, and as popular as smaller Android-based devices like the Kindle Fire or Nook Tablet might become,


the sheer number of users on mobile phones are impossible to ignore.


****It also shows that customers are demanding the ability to sync and read their content across as many devices as possible.


Finally, the subtle differences in UI and app design show that developers aren’t just thinking about building for different screen sizes,


****but around a whole range of factors that affect how, where, what and when we read.


For the new mobile reading, context becomes a cluster of these factors.


Flipboard’s Mike McCue highlights a few of these in an interview with the Los Angeles Times‘ David Sarno:


"It’s a mix of what’s going on in the world and what’s going on in your world, fused together. And it might seem weird that I’m looking at a picture of my daughters, and then the next flip I’m reading a story about Iran.
